When was the school established?

The school was established in 2015 by Sharon Selby.

What age groups do we cater for?

How many children per class?

There are approximately 20 children in each classroom.

What are the nursery care options?
  • Early care (07h00 – 07h30)    
  • Half day (07h30 – 12h30)
  • Three-quarter day (07h30 – 15h00)   
  • Full day (07h30 – 17h30)                                                    
How much are the fees for the care options?

2025 Fees:

  • Early Care @ R500
  • Half day @ R4800
  • Three-quarter day @ R5300
  • Full day @ R5800
  • Once off Enrolment Fee – Under 3 years @ R5800 and Over 3 years @ R4800

What days/ holidays we are closed?

We are open throughout the year at no extra charge but do close over December/January holidays for approximately a month. We are closed on public holidays or Mondays/Fridays respectively if public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday.

What food do we supply?

Delicious meals are prepared by our in–house chef daily and are hormone free with preservatives kept to a minimum. Fresh vegetables are either hidden in meals or on the side. Fruit is also supplied daily.

Sharon's role in the school

Sharon is the owner and director of Chalkwood House.

How is the security at the school?

An electric fence adds extra protection on the playground side and we are linked to armed response via a panic button. Only parent-authorized individuals are able to collect children.

Parent communication

Teachers conduct ongoing observations and assessments and reports are provided in Term 2 and term 4. Parent meetings are held in Term 1 and term 3 to discuss your child’s progress. Daily feedback forms are provided daily for our 8-month to 3-year age groups.
